With more demands than ever on your time, the key to maintaining your sanity is to write down all of your commitments. Doing so will save you the pain of overbooking. Consider your calendar the boss of you over the next few days. @@Say it with me, “if it ain’t scheduled, it ain’t happening.”@@
Delegate tasks that don’t need your personal attention
If your husband is better at hanging Christmas lights, let him. Ditto for your daughter who looks forward to decorating the cookies. The idea here is to free yourself of the smaller action items so that you can focus on the larger tasks that need our special touch. My #1 delegated task during the holidays? Professionally wrapped gifts. I love the wow factor and it saves so much time.
Learn to say no
I know this is a tough one. It’s the holidays and everyone wants to see you. You have more invitations than hours in the day. Say no. Graciously send your regrets. The holidays are supposed to be a time filled with laughter and good cheer. Be social and enjoy it all but overextending is a no-no.
Stay on budget
This should be a no brainer but just in case it isn’t: don’t go into debt. @@There is no need to start 2017 trying to figure out how to pay for last year’s gifts.@@ Give what you can and learn to be at peace with that. Your credit score will thank you.
Self care is a must!
Be sure to take some time to recharge your batteries. Get a massage and that mani/pedi you’ve been putting off. OPI’s Lincoln Park After Dark is one of my winter time go to’s. Take a moisturizing bubble bath. Hang a do not disturb sign on the door and curl up with your favorite book for an hour. Take a walk outside or spend some time in your sacred space. @@Whatever you can do to remain connected to yourself during this busy season, do that.@@
